In addition to his photographic work, Jean Miele is internationally known as an educator whose workshops demystify digital and empower students to realize their own photographic vision. Jean (pronounced "Gene") has taught thousands of photographers, coast-to-coast in the US, and internationally.

“I was not kidding when I said that this past week at ICP has changed my life. As a long time wet darkroom photographer I have been missing the grace and ease of working in digital that I had had in the dark. You have given back to me the feeling of control but also, more importantly, that ticklish passionate "yes" that made me fall in love with all this in the first place. It all seems so simple now that I understand that I was so close when I had been feeling like it was all so far. You made it all so accessible and approachable. Fantastic. When Louise said that you were "patient", what I really think she was feeling was that you were able to connect with each of us in the workshop on a level and with a language that made us all feel comfortable and successful. Once we got that feeling the fears dropped away and we could play and explore. Thank you also for not only opening up these techniques, but to also encourage new "seeing" in ourselves and in others. I appreciated that you recognized and championed everyone's talents and had us share with each other. That was extremely generous and it was another component that made the week very rich. Lastly, I want to say that I don't really know how to say how much I enjoyed meeting you as a person. It is always such a delight and a gift to meet a person who is passionate about what they do, but your love for all of it is exceptional. Good for you for not just teaching the methods and what-for's, but to plant those seeds of "yes"- very cool, very rare and very exciting. I almost didn't take this workshop, I originally had planned to be away this week, but a little voice convinced me to change my plans.
